[00:09:39] -!- davzie has quit [Quit: Leaving]
[00:11:10] <nadlabak> zewelor: instead of relying on "they will fix it", you should try to debug the issue as much as you can by yourself. CM is mostly DIY project, all devs involved have their own personal lives and they have barely the time to fix the issues that personally bothers them... Device maintainers mostly care about the device specific issues. Get involved and propose the solution ;)

[01:08:46] <Fran> hi there
[01:09:01] Fran is now known as Guest76290
[01:09:40] Guest76290 is now known as FranDagostino
[01:10:06] <FranDagostino> anyone can help me with a 3g issue on a DATCH Milestone??
[01:11:38] <TheSpiritof69> Maybe.
[01:12:31] <FranDagostino> I'm trying to use it on Argentina
[01:12:45] <FranDagostino> but I think we have different baseband down here
[01:12:52] <FranDagostino> I mean 3g frequencies
[01:13:35] <FranDagostino> It is possible to patch code Cyanogenmod to enable all the freqs in DATCH version?
[01:13:41] <TheSpiritof69> Androidiani OR got different basebands to flash
[01:14:00] <FranDagostino> no, that doesn't work
[01:14:18] <TheSpiritof69> There are no other
[01:14:37] -!- milaq has quit [Quit: milaq]
[01:15:10] <FranDagostino> I mean in DE u have this freqs 900 / 2100
[01:15:31] <FranDagostino> and in AR u have 850 / 1900 / 2100
[01:15:51] <FranDagostino> do you know if DATCH Milestone have a different 3G Chip that the Latin America version?
[01:16:05] <FranDagostino> by the specs the 3G is supposed to be quad-band
[01:16:18] <FranDagostino> *3G Chip
[01:16:47] <FranDagostino> is there anyone who know about the Milestone internals?
[01:18:17] <TheSpiritof69> There's a difference between Droid and Milestone
[01:18:26] <TheSpiritof69> But afaik all Milestones use the same hardware
[01:20:53] <FranDagostino> so it is possible to, let say, patch cyanogenmod to handle all freqs?
[01:21:14] <FranDagostino> do you know anyone that is involved with cyanogenmod so i can talk to him?
[01:21:35] <TheSpiritof69> Frequencies are handled by baseband..
[01:21:41] <TheSpiritof69> There is nothing more to patch..
[01:21:54] <TheSpiritof69> But nadlabak develops cm4mm
[01:22:02] <TheSpiritof69> He can tell you that for sure..
[01:31:10] <FranDagostino> is there anyway to reverse engineer basebands?
[01:31:43] -!- motobot has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[01:31:50] <TheSpiritof69> Don't know about that
[01:31:59] <TheSpiritof69> Ask nadlabak or Skrilax_CZ|Away
[01:32:06] <TheSpiritof69> Later developped the original OR
[01:33:25] <nadlabak> FranDagostino: yes, there are at least two different milestone hw versions, the milestone sold in europe is not able to use the latam freqs no matter what sw changes you do...

[01:42:44] <xvilka> hey
[01:43:30] <nadlabak> FranDagostino: sorry, I don't know how to detect the difference, e.g. the bpsw is exactly the same... maybe something in the pds block can tell the difference.
[01:44:54] <FranDagostino> I will research
[01:45:03] <FranDagostino> I think I will have to buy Milestone 3

[09:46:52] <zewelor> nadlabak: yes ofc u right but i need to finish some php project now so dont have time to dig into it, but yes i need to find time and look for it, do u have any thoughts how to start ? I think to flash rc3 or 4 to check there as i think it worked ok if yes i could make some binary search to find where it gets broken
[10:04:53] <nadlabak> zewelor: it would be great to find which build first broke it, then we could go through the commits made or merged at that time and find the cause
[10:06:48] <zewelor> ok so i will do that

[20:39:00] <KabaLF> hey guys. Have any of you noticed any difference with Wi-fi on CM7 since RC14 or RC15 (can't really remember which one exactly, but I think it was RC15)? It's been since taking a lot longer to associate with (known/remembered) APs. Does anyone have that?
[20:39:39] <KabaLF> Like, before, it would about 5-10 seconds to associate with an AP. Now it takes as much as 15-20 seconds.
[20:39:48] <KabaLF> *would take
[20:41:09] <KabaLF> I think I recall noticing some commits related to wi-fi before RC15 release, but I they didn't seem like something that could cause this kind of problem
[20:52:01] -!- milaq has quit [Quit: milaq]
[20:52:40] * nadlabak will be back in few minutes
[21:00:14] <pontomedon> KabaLF: i'm running the latest NIGHTLY and it connects immeadiatly to my wpa2 ap
[21:00:26] <nadlabak> KabaLF: see https://github.com/nadlabak/android_system_wlan_ti/commits/gingerbread
[21:00:55] <nadlabak> there was a bug in wilink driver .131
[21:03:07] <nadlabak> so there is a code taken from wilink .144 in use since 11.09.10
[21:03:11] <KabaLF> I'm running the latest nightly too, it's just that I first noticed the problem on RC15
[21:04:32] <nadlabak> I see no slowdown in connecting to different wpa2 APs
[21:05:27] <KabaLF> actually, I've just noticed that on wake up (after leaving the phone suspended with wifi turned on, and leaving it suspended long enough for the wifi suspend to kick in too), it associates very quickly
[21:05:57] <KabaLF> it seems to be slow only when wifi is manually turned on
[21:06:22] <KabaLF> and it's slow on any AP for me. either at home or work (where before it wasn't on neither)
[21:08:33] <pontomedon> from the moment i press the wifi button on the widget until the 3g icon disappears: 4 sec.
[21:08:50] <KabaLF> ok, let me time it here :-)
[21:09:15] <KabaLF> I may have exagerated, but it defenitely is slower than before
[21:09:47] <KabaLF> 16 seconds
[21:09:54] <pontomedon> ok thats strange
[21:10:28] <KabaLF> I'll try to forget the AP and re-add it, let's see if it helps
[21:12:39] <vikas> I'm running RC14 and I have a different issue -- most times WiFi won't connect unless i open the wifi settings screen
[21:12:50] <KabaLF> ok, that seemed to help
[21:13:02] <KabaLF> I'm getting consistent 5-6 seconds
[21:13:31] <KabaLF> I'll try that at home later, though I think I already tried it when I first noticed the problem. But I may be wrong again :-P
[21:13:32] <vikas> but connects instantly once i open the settings screen.
[21:13:57] <Luxxi> try rc15
[21:13:58] <Luxxi> :p
[21:14:01] <KabaLF> vikas: maybe you should try latest release, it has an updated driver, as nadlabak mentioned above
[21:14:34] <KabaLF> I'd go with the NIGHTLY instead
[21:14:59] <KabaLF> it has some modifications sporting better memory usage i think
[21:15:41] <nadlabak> yes, the nightly is the preferred build to use
[21:16:15] <nadlabak> if all goes well, there will be a new nightly uploaded soon
[21:16:23] <KabaLF> nice :)
[21:16:37] <KabaLF> maybe you should just rename it to WEEKLY ;)
[21:19:50] <vikas> i was busy at work, so didn't have time to look at the github page. just saw that rc15's got 3 and a nightly -- nice
[21:23:16] <vikas> nadlabak: btw, i still have the call issue (where swipe to recieve doesn't work)
[21:23:36] <vikas> I see that at least two other ppl on xda have the same. One of them gave a work-around that works
[21:27:11] <vikas> nadlabak: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17568233&postcount=5721
[21:27:12] <nadlabak> vikas: do you carry your phone in trouser pocket?
[21:27:20] <vikas> yes
[21:28:13] <KabaLF> hey, that new ring lockscreen looks very neat!
[21:28:20] <Luxxi> oO
[21:28:20] <KabaLF> I'm on the edge of my seat now :)
[21:28:22] <vikas> nadlabak: why would that matter?
[21:28:23] <Luxxi> new lockscreen?
[21:28:28] <KabaLF> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VnQzT9QyJFQ
[21:28:38] <KabaLF> should be on next NIGHTLY/WEEKLY
[21:28:42] <nadlabak> vikas: it's ESD, the same thing happens regularly to my colleague who uses iphone...
[21:29:48] <nadlabak> vikas: it's a hardware issue, nothing can be done about it, unless you will change the way how you carry the phone
[21:30:11] <vikas> oh ok
[21:30:27] <vikas> so how do you carry your phone? I'm asking because this is the only way i know!
[21:30:43] <vikas> been doing the same thing since the time i got my first nokia...
[21:32:24] <pontomedon> nadlabak btw a thing that has been bugging me for ages: the screen where you enter your pin is unusable in landscape mode (e.g. when in car or desk dock)... is there any chance this can be fixed?
[21:33:28] <nadlabak> vikas: I carry my phone in a case on my belt. (and I bet that your first nokia didn't had capacitive touchscreen)
[21:34:07] <vikas> nadlabak: you are right about that :) In fact this is my first phone with capacitive touch screen
[21:35:32] <nadlabak> pontomedon: it's the same issue as the in_call_touch_ui - google made it strictly for portrait in gingerbread
[21:35:34] <vikas> will a pouch help?
[21:36:23] <pontomedon> nadlabak can it be forced into portrait even when it's in a dock? i wouldn't mind tilting my head :P
[21:36:33] <nadlabak> pontomedon: I guess if you slide out the keyboard, you can enter the numbers using hw keyboard
[21:36:41] <pontomedon> yes that works
[21:36:51] <pontomedon> but it's not that good while driving a car...
[21:37:09] <pontomedon> and since motonav keeps on making it reboot...
[21:37:24] <pontomedon> guess i'll just disable my pin on long rides^^
[21:38:46] <vikas> pontomedon: you use motonav?
[21:38:52] <vikas> i thought nobody used that
[21:39:01] <nadlabak> pontomedon: all that is needed is a change in layout res files... I'll try to have a look into it
[21:39:18] <vikas> except Moto QA (probably because they need to test it as part of their job) ;)
[21:39:52] <nadlabak> I have my pin code disabled, so I didn't care :)
[21:41:17] <nadlabak> pontomedon: do you have logfiles from the motonav induced reboots? which version of motonav do you use?
[21:46:28] <nadlabak> pontomedon: I have occasional reboot when running latest Sygic navigation. It's a segfault in libc (strlen), called from libdvm. That's a bug I'd like to hunt down and fix.
[21:47:46] <nadlabak> but it's hard to drive and debug at the same time :)
[21:48:51] <vikas> would it be called driving under the influence of debugging :)
[21:49:51] <nadlabak> :D
[21:55:52] <KabaLF> "sir, I need to step out of the car and take this test"
[21:55:59] <KabaLF> *need you
[21:56:11] <KabaLF> damn, I already ruined the joke
[21:56:26] <KabaLF> anyway, the guy has to take this logic and math test
[21:56:32] <KabaLF> if he passes, he's busted :P
[22:00:11] <pontomedon> nadlabak: no i don't have any logs at the moment, i thought it was only a memory issue.. it starts to lag for a few seconds and reboots (bootanimation only, no moto logo). happened on google maps navigation as well, but motonav does it like every 10 minutes.. I'll try to catch some logs the next time i use it
[22:03:37] <pontomedon> vikas: i actually quite like the fact that i can use all those igo8 maps that mysteriously appeared on my hdd with it
[22:04:22] <pontomedon> in my home country i use google maps navigation, but that's kinda hard without a data connection :)
[22:05:45] <vikas> pontomedon: oh yeah, it's useful to have an "offline" navigation app always
[22:05:57] <vikas> i hate that gmaps is always online
[22:06:13] <vikas> btw, how do you install motonav on CM7? is there an app or something?
[22:08:36] <Luxxi> oO
[22:08:43] <Luxxi> motonav? i never had it
[22:09:09] <KabaLF> Luxxi: it comes by default on the stock ROM from Motorola
[22:09:16] <KabaLF> in some countries at least
[22:09:19] <Luxxi> oh
[22:09:27] <Luxxi> i never used the stock rom
[22:09:27] <KabaLF> and only a demo version I think
[22:09:28] <Luxxi> :D

[22:09:57] <KabaLF> I don't like it too much
[22:10:17] <KabaLF> the only thing it has going for it is that it has direct support for iGO map files
[22:10:26] <KabaLF> the UI is terrible
[22:10:41] <KabaLF> and slow
[22:10:55] <Luxxi> ah ok

[22:39:16] <nadlabak> the most reliable offline navigation under gingerbread for me is still Sygic Mobile Maps 10 v8.24 - not a single crash
[22:41:31] <nadlabak> but I could not hesitate so I purchased the current Sygic (Aura) version... it crashes for me once in about 200km
[22:41:49] <KabaLF> I use NDrive 10
[22:42:04] <KabaLF> works fine here
[22:42:48] <KabaLF> it's certainly not the best, but it's good enough as a fallback for google nav
