[21:21:32] <nadlabak> CM 7.1.2 is up
[21:27:30] <nadlabak> hmm, actually, it's not :/
[21:27:31] -!- milaq has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
[21:28:08] <TheSpiritof69> :D
[21:29:28] <nadlabak> well, it's github, it's free... no wonder :)
[21:30:53] <TheSpiritof69> lib2ext sounds good
[21:31:17] <TheSpiritof69> But I lately get the problem that /cache is full and therefore no apps/updates can be installed
[21:31:29] <TheSpiritof69> Thanks to dalvik-cache being to large
[21:33:16] <nadlabak> dalvik.vm.dexopt-cache-only is now disabled, the cache won't be full anymore
[21:34:25] <TheSpiritof69> I see
[21:39:15] <nadlabak> currently, I have 78MB free in /cache (with logger enabled), 117MB free in /data, 477MB used in /sd-ext
[21:40:22] <TheSpiritof69> Yeah, on the last CM7/Hono I had 100MB in /cache/dalvik-cache
[21:40:38] <TheSpiritof69> Which was unfortunate on a /cache Partition that only has ~105MB
[21:40:41] <TheSpiritof69> :P
[21:41:47] <nadlabak> yep :)
[21:41:51] <Lenny_> HO!NO is unusable :)
[21:42:05] <Lenny_> for everyone with 20+ apps
[21:42:49] <TheSpiritof69> That may be your opinion but has nothing to do with the aforementioned issue
[21:43:12] -!- Bavilo has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
[21:43:16] <nadlabak> btw., I had to inflate my sd-ext partition, now I'm using 1GB for ext3 of my 32GB sdcard
[21:54:00] <nadlabak> having all dex files in /cache worked fine for me, but I guess that I'm using slightly different apps than majority ;)
[21:56:25] <nadlabak> as cache is not watched for free space, unlike data, dalvik.vm.dexopt-cache-only enabled by default was not so good idea
[21:59:00] -!- milaq [milaq!~milaq@ip-95-222-161-25.unitymediagroup.de] has joined #milestone-modding
[22:01:35] <nadlabak> 7.1.2 upload to github, 2nd try, status: 7%
[22:05:57] -!- milaq has quit [Ping timeout: 248 seconds]
[22:53:43] <nadlabak> some powervr.ini tweaks might be interesting, but the options are not documented anywhere
[22:56:35] <nadlabak> ParamBufferSize is rather harmless - if the param buffer size is set too low, some 3D objects won't be drawn. Only apps that are using more complex 3d scenes will be affected
[22:57:45] <nadlabak> if it's set to 1MB only, even less surfaceflinger RAM usage can be seen
[22:58:41] -!- Hoernchen [Hoernchen!~dreadlox@osmocom/Hoernchen] has joined #milestone-modding
[23:04:07] <nadlabak> I set it to 2MB in 7.1.2, as I haven't seen any drawing issues using this value in any app I've tested so far, while 1MB can be too low for some 3D scenes in some apps...
[23:10:08] <Hoernchen> i'm planning to do some SDR stuff using the dsp on my milestone... how (un)reliable is the usb host mode ? i googled quite a bit, it looks like most people just tried it out once and that's it
[23:19:30] -!- LjL has quit [Excess Flood]
[23:25:17] -!- mavhc has quit [Excess Flood]
[23:25:57] -!- LjL [LjL!~ljl@unaffiliated/ljl] has joined #milestone-modding
[23:28:44] <nadlabak> Hoernchen: it's a shame, but I haven't found the time to play with the usb host mode on Milestone yet
[23:28:48] -!- mavhc [mavhc!~mavhc@cpc3-basf10-2-0-cust617.12-3.cable.virginmedia.com] has joined #milestone-modding
[23:28:52] <Hoernchen> :/
[23:33:47] <Hoernchen> my thought was "hey, my milestone is basically a beagleboard with a nice touchscreen that runs android", so i started to tinker and managed to get the dspbridge to work
[23:40:00] <nadlabak> Hoernchen: you can run your own kernel on beagleboard freely. In the case of Milestone, any kernel modification is much harder. Though possible via kernel hacking using kernel modules.
[23:40:53] <Hoernchen> i'm used to problems like that
[23:42:00] <Hoernchen> but that was one of the reasons why i asked, if there is something really wrong with the usb host mode that is not fixable by modifying some minor stuff my idea won't work
[23:53:19] <nadlabak> Hoernchen: I don't think that there is an usb otg issue that can't be fixed via kernel module. But as I've indicated above, although I planned to explore this area in the past, I've never found the time for it so far. Whether the effort needed to fix some hypothetical usb host issue can be considered minor is a question...
[23:53:53] <Hoernchen> i guess i'll just have to try ;)
