[08:30:59] <VictorMoody> Hello everyone...I need a bit of help/ guidance
[08:36:05] <VictorMoody> I have a Motorola Milestone with 15.8 GB memory card...so I am trying to create a second partition for 1 GB to be used with CM7 mod...now its been close to 2 hours since I input command for resizing the existing partition from 0mb to 14.8gb, however it still not done (nor is it showing any progress or update for me to know how much is done)...so I would like to know if this is normal time or how long does it typically
[08:36:35] <VictorMoody> Would really appreciate any help here

[11:07:38] <pontomedon> nadlabak: are you here?
[11:07:51] <pontomedon> about that "link_image[1995]:failed to link tune2fs" error in OR
[11:12:27] <pontomedon> any idea what's going on there?
[11:16:42] <nadlabak> pontomedon: here is staticaly compiled tune2fs: http://www.mediafire.com/?0b97e0az0yb7vah
[11:16:47] <nadlabak> that should fix it
[11:17:04] <pontomedon> oh great, thanks
[11:18:20] <nadlabak> Victor_Moody: can you check dmesg via adb?
[11:28:15] <Victor_Moody> Hello nadlabak, thanks for your help...I just downloaded the new tune2fs file and trying again now
[11:36:31] <pontomedon> nadlabak: thanks, the statically linked binary works like a charm
[11:36:58] <pontomedon> any idea why the dynamically linked one works on some phones and doesn't on others?
[11:44:30] <Quarx> nadlabak: hi, maybe you know... which lib is opening the overlay.omap3.so in gb?
[11:47:35] <Victor_Moody> nadlabak, again thanks for your help. Like pontomedon said, it worked like a charm :)
[11:47:54] Red|Off is now known as Redh3ad
[11:54:01] <nadlabak> Quarx: well, every lib that includes /hardware/overlay.h :)
[11:54:15] <Quarx> nadlabak: oh..
[11:54:29] <Quarx> nadlabak: i want restore full support
[11:54:54] <nadlabak> yes, I think that is the way for us

[11:57:55] -!- Bavilo has quit [Ping timeout: 248 seconds]
[12:00:44] <nadlabak> Quarx: so it's libhardware.so that loads overlay.omap3.so
[12:01:08] <Quarx> ok thanks
[12:07:56] <nadlabak> Quarx: I think that we have two choices
[12:08:27] <nadlabak> 1. write our own hwcomposer, based aroud the current ti overlay code
[12:08:54] <nadlabak> 2. use overlay directly by restoring its support in ics
[12:09:29] <Quarx> yea... but hwcomposer is a linked with gralloc...
[12:09:52] <nadlabak> 1. would be better, but much harder, so I guess the option 2. is the way to go now

[12:59:31] <endstille> heyho =) i just syncronized and compilied cm7 but it is still named 7.1.3
[12:59:53] <endstille> is the one, from github more up-to-date?
[13:05:11] <nadlabak> endstille: you should delete out/target/product/umts_sholes/system/build.prop before doing new unclean build
[13:07:17] <endstille> i just started compiling, after i deleted the whole out-folder
[13:07:46] <endstille> it should be clean, i guess (i just setup my third environment on my pc, made a dualboot here as well)
[13:08:22] <k1l> make clean will make a clean build
[13:09:33] <nadlabak> in any case, version in my repo is set to 7.1.4: https://github.com/nadlabak/android_vendor_cyanogen/commit/b49a6de27c68f6d27a00abec3c3269688a1de4be
[13:10:55] <endstille> okay, thank you =)
[13:11:10] <endstille> i think i know my problem
[13:12:30] <endstille> i thought i could save time by copient cm4mm to USB and copy on my pc, then sync again, as most of the data would be there.... however it is a mess, i just deleted everything :! will have to do a clean sync again
[13:12:41] <nadlabak> endstille: btw., if you sinc again in a minute, you'll get the ics animations including the rotation
[13:12:50] <endstille> yay
[13:13:08] <endstille> thats awesome :D
[13:37:42] <Quarx> oh backporting is very hard

[16:10:12] <Hendrik212> pontomedon: thanks for your tutorial, I just bought a new micro sd card and following the section which describes partitioning directly in openrecovery
[16:11:32] <Hendrik212> I just have one question, I understand that ext3 adds security over ext2 due to journaling
[16:11:53] <pontomedon> be sure to download the latest OR zip i linked (http://db.tt/w53hZCaR) it contains the new statically linked tune2fs binary
[16:12:26] <Hendrik212> but what about ext4, would there be a benefit using ex4 or is ext3 the best choice?
[16:13:47] <endstille> ext3 is the best choice, as it is supported without problems
[16:14:06] <endstille> nandroid cannot work with ext4, unless you remove some options
[16:15:21] <endstille> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21407050&postcount=6944
[16:18:55] <Hendrik212> okay, and if I wouldn't use nandroid to backup the ext partition, there would be no noticable speed difference between ext3 and 4 in android I guess?
[16:20:22] <pontomedon> i don't think there'll be any difference
[16:28:46] -!- stlifey has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]
[16:54:23] <Hendrik212> okay thanks partitioning successfully finished :)

[18:24:55] <Skrilax_CZ> there was a note about dynamic / static linking here: in OR you must use statically linked; because there is no linker / shared libraries anywhere - you would have to compile them specially for recovery
