[16:40:48] <endstille> hmmm, i found some... difficulties in handling my MS as navi
[16:40:48] <endstille> i had to drive to another contry yesterday (for my work)
[16:40:48] <endstille> on the road i realized, that the windows does not always switch to horizontal.. for example the PIN, the unlockscreen and the favorites-menu did not rotate (however, once i selected a contact, it did)
[16:41:52] <endstille> would it be possible, to handle it in more situations horizontal? i think i also entere my pin that way, but im not sure if it was in CM, or before

[20:14:47] <karmapolis> This link (http://www.networkworld.com/news/2012/012612-rsa-crypto-keys-255379.html?hpg1=bn) suggests another kind of attack to the bootloader key that we haven't considered, although such side-channel attacks are beyond the means of most of us. Kind of like Tempest for phones.

[21:40:20] <mioze7ae> karmapolis: private key is not stored on the phone, public key is already easy to grab
[21:42:20] <mioze7ae> Only the public key is needed to authenticate that something is genuine, the bootloader is not encrypted
[21:43:13] <mioze7ae> But to create a signature that the public key will validate requires the private key which is somewhere inside motorola
[21:43:24] <mioze7ae> and not on the phone

[22:13:29] <heretic1304> hello
[22:17:13] <heretic1304> well if anyone can help, I just installed cyanogen mod 7.5.1 on my milestone using this tutorial: http://www.mrmuh.com/2012/01/update-a-motorola-milestone-from-motorola-firmware-to-cyanogenmod-7/
[22:17:25] <heretic1304> now I can't connect to AT&T 2G anymore
[22:17:36] <heretic1304> I live in the US and it worked fine before I flashed it
[22:17:59] <heretic1304> I installed the Canada-Telus radio update listed in the tutorial
[22:20:57] <heretic1304> whoops, 7.1.5*
[22:22:40] <pontomedon> did you try without a radio update?
[22:22:56] <heretic1304> I did not, should I re-do it all?
[22:23:42] <pontomedon> not sure if it will help. but you can easily try, just reflash the cyanogenmod update.zip
[22:23:56] <heretic1304> okay I'll boot into OR and do that now
[22:24:11] <pontomedon> the thing with the radios is a real pain
[22:24:26] <heretic1304> yeah I'm starting to see that lol
[22:24:55] milaq|afk is now known as milaq
[22:24:59] <heretic1304> I've been googling like crazy and I haven't really come up with anyone else having this issue
[22:26:08] <pontomedon> according to wikipedia you need 850/1900 MHz, you could try all the radio updates and see if there's one that works...
[22:27:28] <heretic1304> now it won't boot into recovery -.-
[22:27:45] <heretic1304> my power button broke like most of them do so I have to use quick boot
[22:27:58] <heretic1304> the recovery screen flashes and the phone reboots immediately into CM
[22:28:25] <pontomedon> hm redownload the OR zip
[22:29:12] <heretic1304> can I just re-use the one I downloaded earlier and replace the one on my SD with it?
[22:29:25] <heretic1304> I kept all the files
[22:30:16] <pontomedon> yes
[22:30:22] <heretic1304> okay cool
[22:31:06] <pontomedon> what recovery screen do you see before it reboots? OR? or the "apply update" screen from regular recovery
[22:32:04] <heretic1304> OR boots fine now
[22:32:13] <heretic1304> let me re-install CM
[22:32:32] <heretic1304> and I see the little box with an arrow going to the phone and then it boots into OR
[22:35:29] <pontomedon> yes that's fine. that's the "apply update" screen i was talking about. nevermind my question though, now that OR works again :)
[22:36:09] <heretic1304> I'm rebooting with CM re-installed nao
[22:37:01] <heretic1304> hmm, blank screen
[22:38:03] <heretic1304> aha it started up
[22:38:22] <heretic1304> and I believe I have a text, you may have solved my issue
[22:38:37] <pontomedon> hm i didn't expect this
[22:38:58] <heretic1304> ADW launched is giving me an issue
[22:39:17] <heretic1304> I didn't installed the other updates like I did last time, I suppose I should do that lol
[22:39:25] <heretic1304> google apps, devtree, and the other one
[22:39:37] <pontomedon> nope you shouldn need those anymore
[22:39:46] <heretic1304> I didn't figure I would
[22:39:52] <heretic1304> but its frozen now, reboot?
[22:40:08] <pontomedon> hm yes
[22:40:19] <pontomedon> clear cache/davlik cache
[22:40:58] <pontomedon> sorry, should have said that before. clearing cache/davlik cache is recommended on every CM flash
[22:41:53] <heretic1304> I'll do that still but everything works fine now
[22:41:59] <heretic1304> thank you so much <3
[22:42:10] <pontomedon> hmmm very strange
[22:42:38] <pontomedon> but good that it works^^
[22:43:49] <heretic1304> internet heros FTW
[22:43:55] <pontomedon> lol
[22:44:20] <heretic1304> so how did you come to be so knowledgeable about this stuff?
[22:44:42] <pontomedon> lol i don't know very much about that specific subject
[22:45:04] <pontomedon> about the milestone stuff
[22:45:23] <pontomedon> well i'm reading this channel for over two years now
[22:45:49] <heretic1304> I see
[22:46:16] <pontomedon> listening to the people who really know what they're doing
[22:46:42] <heretic1304> yeah that's pretty much how I know what I know about everything lol
[22:47:02] <heretic1304> this is just my first experience with modding anything android related
[22:47:22] <pontomedon> the milestone is my first android phone as well
[22:47:26] <heretic1304> that was actually a lot easier than I expected it to be, considering its a linux based OS
[22:47:52] <pontomedon> but i was involved with the modding community from very beginning
[22:48:43] <pontomedon> the original root exploit etc etc.
[22:49:12] milaq is now known as milaq|afk
[22:49:58] <pontomedon> linux based OS doesn't mean complicated anymore :)
[22:50:36] <heretic1304> that's very true
[22:51:11] <heretic1304> I'm assuming you have experience with linux on PC, do you know anything about a distro called Jolicloud?
[22:51:24] <pontomedon> never heard of it
[22:51:42] <pontomedon> i know the mainstream distros, debian/ubuntu
[22:51:49] <heretic1304> its ubuntu based
[22:52:19] <heretic1304> my friend works for Jolicloud, so I ask everyone I run across that knows about all this if they've heard of it
[22:52:46] <heretic1304> its an interesting OS, but if you're not using a netbook its rather worthless
[22:53:14] * pontomedon is reading the wiki article about joli os:::
[22:53:28] * pontomedon hits the damn caps lock all the time
[22:53:59] <pontomedon> sounds nice
[22:54:16] <heretic1304> yeah it has a nice interface and its damned near idiot proof
[22:54:27] <pontomedon> but i don't have a netbook, so....
[22:54:27] <heretic1304> its just not all too powerful or anything
[22:54:33] <heretic1304> yeah lol
[22:54:37] <heretic1304> me either
[22:55:42] <heretic1304> okay I need to go shower I smell like I've been in a moldy basement writing code for 6 hours
[22:55:49] <pontomedon> lol
[22:56:12] <pontomedon> good thing the internet can't transmit that yet
[22:56:25] <pontomedon> well then cya :)
[23:24:27] <TheSpiritof69> lol
