[01:56:51] <nadlabak> xdarklight: I can talk only for myself. There's not enough free time, motivation and energy for a real serious work on 3.x kernel for Milestone here.
[01:58:47] <xdarklight> nadlabak: ok (it was just a question)
[01:59:29] <xdarklight> I had a look at the 3.0 kernel earlier today and it drove me nuts
[01:59:33] <xdarklight> (for the Defy)
[01:59:59] <xdarklight> something in DSS/DSI is going *very* wrong
[02:09:14] <nadlabak> The 256MB RAM limits the device future too much for such big efforts as trying to get a 3.x kernel working and stable enough. I guess that before that goal would be reached, I'd be already using another device.
[02:15:52] <xdarklight> heh
[02:16:19] <xdarklight> a friend of mine also has a milestone and he's really happy with it (thanks to you and the other milestone devs :-))
[02:31:59] <nadlabak> Nice to hear that :)
[02:51:44] <nadlabak> Though looking for it, I still haven't seen any reasonably good replacement device so far. So it seems I'll have to stick with the old Milestone for some more, unexpected time. 3 years old, already? really? wow :) Well, it still serves my needs rather acceptably. Let's see what the future will bring ;)

[11:29:51] <mrvek> Hi
[11:30:03] <mrvek> does someone know why there is odex file created when trying to rebuild a single app and how to prevent it?
[11:30:25] <mrvek> I am trying to rebuild an app (currently SystemUI, using mm inside project dir) but it generates an odex file which does not work when replaced on device. logcat says there are stale dependencies for odex
[11:30:55] <mrvek> when built as a part of a build that app works fine and reflects changes in source.

[16:26:46] * dx reads up
[16:27:45] <dx> heh, so the reason we still get nice development progress is that the devs are in the same situation as i am, not knowing what else to buy
[16:29:50] -!- atomphil355 [atomphil355!~atomphil@146-52-10-91-dynip.superkabel.de] has joined #milestone-modding
[16:31:20] <dx> so, given that there's no hope for more decent qwerty phones, how long until someone tries to solder compatible ram chips from other bricked phones into the milestone?
[16:39:22] <zewelor> dx: probably never as ram is packed with cpu gpu etc into SoC
[16:40:50] <dx> ;_;
[16:41:11] <dx> (i was kinda expecting that answer, but i haven't done any research)
[16:41:51] <zewelor> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_on_a_chip
[16:41:53] <dx> plan B: ram based microSD. i can dream right?
[16:42:11] <zewelor> you can make swap partition / swap file on sd card
[16:42:18] <zewelor> but it much slower that ram
[16:42:22] <zewelor> its*
[16:42:33] <dx> i know, that's my point. make a swap partition on a device that's actually ram
[16:43:49] <Robot_> zewelor: the ram is not in the same package
[16:44:19] <Robot_> there are 2 packages stacked on each other ... PoP - package on package
[16:46:16] <zewelor> oh so i was wrong :\ So is it possible to replace only ram package ? or what else is packed together with ram ?
[16:46:35] <Robot_> i think it is ram with nand
[16:46:51] <zewelor> dx: you can do this now, i think there is already script for it recent versions on cm7 for ms
[16:47:27] <Robot_> it is possible, but probably there aren't many hobbyist that are capable of doing so

[17:34:48] <atomphil355> does anybody got CM7.2.4e on the Milestone?
[17:35:06] <atomphil355> can you switch to airplane mode?
[17:35:37] <Erovia> i believe it should work
[17:36:00] <atomphil355> should or do?
[17:36:46] <Erovia> i not heard of anyone complaining about it
[17:37:30] <atomphil355> at my phone it dont go to airplanemode, insteat it ask for the pin and restart the connection
[17:39:44] <Erovia> do you got this issue with older versions of cm7?

[17:57:53] <Erovia> so i've used Goggles for scanning bar-/qr-codes and today i didnt found it on my phone, i checked, and the apk is in place, Google Play says it is not compatible with Milestone, wtf?
[18:05:57] <Erovia> in case someone has any idea, i'll check the irc log

[19:06:28] <Skrilax_CZ> dx: it's impossible to resolder the ram ;)
[19:07:23] <Skrilax_CZ> but I've bought (quite cheaply) a Photon Q off e-bay (QWERTY phone, unlocked bootloader, 1 GB RAM, 1.5 GHz dualcore (MSM8960)), you only need to unsolder SIM IC and solder your SIM card instead
[19:08:10] <Skrilax_CZ> there's a topic about it on XDA and the OP of the thread (from Czech Republic) will likely do it for you as a service

[19:19:11] <Robot_> hack from cz :-) uuhuu
[19:19:43] <Skrilax_CZ> Robot_: zewelor: I recall RAM is put as daughter board on the OMAP3430 (BGA with pin distance 0.5 mm)
[19:20:55] <Robot_> it is chip on chip, POP as they call it
[19:21:37] <Skrilax_CZ> yeah

[22:23:39] <mrvek> hi
[22:23:52] <mrvek> Skrilax_CZ: I am using nadlabak's cm9 which is deodexed. the problem is that I am doing something wrong when I try to rebuild only one app (SystemUI, email, phone, contacts, spare parts) there is always odex file coming out along with apk which are not usable on this rom. And I can't figure out what am I doing wrong. I guess i'll have to search more.

[22:29:42] <mrvek> btw, Photon Q is a nice buy. I was hoping to do the same. There are a few local people that have the tools and are willing to replace sim ic. it really seems like a nice device. the only decent qwerty so far

[22:44:27] <Skrilax_CZ> mrvek: did you run breakfast command for envsetup?
[22:47:44] k1l_ is now known as k1l
[22:48:16] <Skrilax_CZ> yeah, Photon Q is; if you take a second look on it, it will come out pretty cheap and also most of the things in the software will be shared with RAZR HD (for CM)
[22:55:16] <Robot_> razr hd lacks the qwerty keyboard
[23:16:39] <Skrilax_CZ> I meant as of dev support, that much is shared with RAZR HD
[23:19:31] <nadlabak> Skrilax_CZ: Hi. How is your sim card connected now? Is it still removable?

[23:21:43] <Skrilax_CZ> nadlabak: I have not received it yet; however it's soldered hard (I don't know if the project to use a micro/nano SIM reader succeeded, best to ask for that is CornholioGSM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=243251))
[23:23:22] <nadlabak> Skrilax_CZ: I see :). Is there any JellyBean beta already available? Or only ICS still?
[23:25:15] <Skrilax_CZ> nadlabak: ICS so far, JB is expected Q1 2013
