[00:00:36] -!- cafk has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
[00:05:10] <nadlabak> endstille: I remember people with 'high' capacity third party batteries reported in the past that the reported/estimated remaining power is incorrect - it goes down, then remains at the lowest value for some hours till the phone finally switches off when the battery gets really empty
[00:06:54] <nadlabak> Skrilax_CZ: have you already got your Photon Q?
[00:07:17] <nadlabak> It seems really tempting ;)
[00:07:39] <Skrilax_CZ> nadlabak: not yet
[00:07:46] <Robot_> do you have a good sourcefor the phone ?
[00:08:00] <Skrilax_CZ> Robot_: ebay only
[00:09:11] <Robot_> hmm ...
[00:09:41] <nadlabak> if it had better camera and battery, I would have ordered it already :)
[00:10:46] <Skrilax_CZ> I myself don't mind about the camera, but the battery is weak
[00:11:19] <nadlabak> I guess I'll be thinking about it for some more time... let's see ;)
[00:11:33] <Robot_> and non removable ?
[00:11:42] <Robot_> is it like a dispensible phone ?:)
[00:11:52] <Robot_> nonremovable simcard, with nonremovable battery
[00:12:07] <Robot_> throw away after finishing the phone call...
[00:12:10] <Skrilax_CZ> Robot_: well, "nonremovable"
[00:12:34] <Robot_> of course ...
[00:12:50] <Robot_> i wouldn't mind replacing the simcard ,
[00:13:13] <Skrilax_CZ> I'm noting to measure the battery when I'll be doing to soldering
[00:13:13] <Robot_> that's one time job
[00:13:38] <Robot_> and make some pretty hires pictures :-)
[00:14:02] <nadlabak> everything can be replaced, the concern is the most probably non-existing aftermarket for compatible batteries
[00:14:23] <Robot_> you could find compatible one
[00:14:41] <Robot_> they are probably not going to be smartbatteries at all
[00:15:41] <Skrilax_CZ> battery availability is hard to tell ... I'd guess Droid 4 battery could be compatible
[00:16:39] <Robot_> grind off the edges of the battery is it doesnt fit
[00:21:42] <nadlabak> ixc: do you limit your screen-off cpu freq? zram enabled?
[00:22:01] <Skrilax_CZ> Well, on the other hand, Photon Q will be cheap compared to other phones
[00:24:01] <Robot_> yes of course , but the price was about 260eur on ebay
[00:26:45] <Skrilax_CZ> you can get a "discount" on bad ESN ;), and wasn't it 260 dollars?
[00:27:11] <Skrilax_CZ> for comparison, DE amazon has Razr HD for smth like 540eur, right?
[00:28:32] <Robot_> 250usd
[00:29:17] <nadlabak> bad ESN=phone stolen or unpaid bill attached. not very comfortable for me.
[00:29:45] <Skrilax_CZ> yeah, that is the risk
[00:32:14] <ixc> nadlabak: no, zram is disabled; screen off cpu freq is on default, let me check
[00:32:15] <Skrilax_CZ> although I wonder if that means anything for you when you disable CDMA as a whole
[00:32:31] <ixc> but it was only yesterday, today everything was ok
[00:32:36] <ixc> i think i have some hardware problem
[00:33:37] <ixc> im not sure about max offscreen cpu freq on default, atm its on 600mhz
[00:33:40] <ixc> should be enough
[00:36:12] <nadlabak> Skrilax_CZ: no, of course, for GSM usage it doesn't mean anything, I guess. I just personally don't like buying possibly stolen goods. That's all. My problem :)
[00:40:40] <Skrilax_CZ> nadlabak: ah ... well was saying that ppl said they bought it for as low as $200
[00:41:38] <Skrilax_CZ> I got mine for $280 (slightly used, good ESN) ~~ around $360 with customs / shipping, so like 7200 CZK
[00:42:25] <Robot_> and now you are going to break it :-)
[00:43:09] <Robot_> that 's the part i dont like, there is hardly any way to open it "softly" without visible marks
[00:43:29] <Skrilax_CZ> you can open is easily with a plastic disassembly tool
[00:43:35] <Skrilax_CZ> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyugXiuxBp8
[00:43:49] <nadlabak> ixc: I have the screen-off freq set to 600MHz as well, no such problem so far, so that should not be the cause, indeed
[00:45:22] <ixc> i check it via adb when its happen
[00:45:37] <ixc> was weird, busybox's top say 90% idle
[00:45:45] <ixc> and phone had 8+ load
[00:46:06] <ixc> i also check, no iowait
[00:49:30] <Robot_> Skrilax_CZ: he almost looks like a butcher in the first 5 minutes
[00:49:40] <Skrilax_CZ> Robot_: lol
[00:50:03] <Robot_> allright ... gnite, time to sleep
[00:50:07] <Skrilax_CZ> gn

[18:45:54] <dx> i killed zygote and media an hour ago on so, screen remains on since then, and battery is at 87%
[18:46:23] <dx> and i was thinking it was the screen's fault that battery life was so short
[18:46:55] <dx> but now it helps that the interactive governor is keeping it at 250mhz constantly
[19:06:52] <dx> trying to find how to start an X server that accesses fb0 directly, and it requires a real tty device... when searching for a solution all i can find is people trying to install an ubuntu desktop on openvz VPSes
[19:08:38] <dx> it makes me feel i'm at the same level of stupidity as them

[23:22:06] <dx> welp, CONFIG_VT is disabled on the current kernel config. not sure if that's exactly what i need
[23:22:29] <dx> (that took me long to figure out)
[23:23:19] <dx> nadlabak: is there a way to change the 2ndboot'd kernel image without rebuilding all of cyanogenmod?
[23:24:33] <nadlabak> dx: you can build just the kernel
[23:24:51] <dx> awesome.
[23:25:54] <dx> nadlabak: and how do i replace the current one?
[23:26:53] <dx> is it /system/etc/2ndboot/kernel ?
[23:26:56] <nadlabak> the 2ndboot kernel is in /system/etc/2ndboot/kernel
[23:27:02] <nadlabak> yep :)
[23:27:08] <dx> hah, cool, thanks
[23:28:13] <dx> nadlabak: another question, mapphone_2ndboot_defconfig or mapphone_defconfig?
[23:28:46] <nadlabak> mapphone_2ndboot_defconfig
[23:28:50] <dx> gotcha
[23:29:02] <dx> (this needs documentation)
[23:29:20] <nadlabak> the other one is only for unlocked eng phones
[23:32:04] <nadlabak> the kernel config in use can be seen in BoardConfig: https://github.com/nadlabak/android_device_motorola_umts_sholes/blob/gingerbread/BoardConfig.mk#L124
