[00:25:26] <nadlabak> Skrilax_CZ: I'm not sure what it actually is, but it indeed looks like some watchdog. But it's not the usual omap watchdog in kernel. There comes a restart after some time of entering the recovery (when 2ndbooted to custom kernel), unless the recovery has been started by the /cache/recovery/command
[00:27:51] <Skrilax_CZ> nadlabak: hmm, sounds to me like you have to 2ndboot it fast ... or it panics
[00:30:10] <nadlabak> Skrilax_CZ: there's no new /data/dontpanic/apanic_console content when such restart happens
[00:31:48] <Skrilax_CZ> hmm
[00:33:40] <nadlabak> there's also nothing in logcat -b kernel when run under recovery, the phone just suddenly restarts
[00:42:57] <Skrilax_CZ> and did you try uart?
[00:43:55] <Skrilax_CZ> well I can try that afterall ... since the MS is just laying on the table in airplane mode ... what a battery life
[00:44:42] <nadlabak> :)
[00:48:39] <nadlabak> the 2ndboot OR 1.1 (and any previous 2ndboot OR version) is affected by it: http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod4milestone/downloads/detail?name=OpenRecovery_2ndbootOR_v1_1.zip
[00:51:09] <Skrilax_CZ> nadlabak: well, the old 2ndboot binary from yakk didn't disable the watchdog ... he hacked it in the kernel rather to kick it sooner with higher frequency
[00:53:44] <nadlabak> I can check the UART output only tomorrow, as I left my UART equipped USB board at work. I don't remember now if I actually tried to get some UART output when checking this issue.
[00:55:14] <nadlabak> yep, yakk obviously wanted to spare some time in the case of failed 2ndboot boots :)

[13:41:20] <nadlabak> vikas: can you dump nandroid of your current bpsw before updating?
[13:49:29] <nadlabak> vikas: bpsw is a firmware for the baseband processor, it's on separate mtd block, it's not touched by any CM installation. It has nothing to do with content of any caches.

[18:41:09] <mrvek> nadlabak: hi
[18:41:53] <mrvek> nadlabak: how could I identify if correct bpsw is being used?
[18:42:16] <Skrilax_CZ> mrvek: maybe BP version?
[18:42:26] <mrvek> nadlabak: I had telephony layer err. on CM9 today. first time for me. my baseband fw came from SHOLS_U2_05.27.5_SIGNED_UCASHLSMR2EMEAB1B806E.0R_PDS003_USAMS1FRYORTINTC_P011_A006_HWp2a_WIG146136_1FF sbf, africa kernel that suposed to have rare display errors.
[18:42:38] <mrvek> Skrilax_CZ: what would be the correct one?
[18:43:48] <Skrilax_CZ> well I have 3GSMEPU91A_U_91.09.04I and didn't have a problem with that one
[18:44:44] <mrvek> Skrilax_CZ: me too. and I had telephony err.
[18:45:24] <Skrilax_CZ> hmm, your IMEI isn't zeroed out, no?
[18:45:50] <mrvek> Skrilax_CZ: no, it is there
[18:46:11] <Skrilax_CZ> don't know then
[18:46:32] <Skrilax_CZ> doesn't look like bpsw is the problem
[18:47:46] <mrvek> Skrilax_CZ: do you know if nadlabak is still developing (and debugging ;)) for M1? or is focused on xt897?
[18:48:36] <Skrilax_CZ> mrvek: I don't know ... he's about to receive Photon Q and get is SIM card modded ... but still on MS1
[18:49:01] <mrvek> Skrilax_CZ: I see. thank you for help..
[18:50:24] <Skrilax_CZ> mrvek: so, are you thinking about upgrading?
[18:51:53] <mrvek> Skrilax_CZ: yes. but it is hard to find someone willing to ship here (Croatia) so i'll need to work around it
[18:52:12] <Skrilax_CZ> ah
[18:52:44] <mrvek> and in the mean time I spent my saving intended for new device ton hw upgrade :) couldn't resist...

[19:59:08] <mrvek> Skrilax_CZ: do you perhaps know if bad esn could be a potential problem on gsm networks? i just found two dealers on ebay that ship here but both have bad esn (plus no return policy)
[19:59:28] <mrvek> though both have very high positive feedback...
[19:59:30] <Skrilax_CZ> mrvek: bad ESN is only cdma network related
[19:59:56] <Skrilax_CZ> though there is some risk involved that the phone was stolen, and thus IMEI might be blocked in some countries too
[20:00:10] <Skrilax_CZ> (not in EU anyway)
[20:00:48] <mrvek> Skrilax_CZ: hm... I guess it might be worth the risk, it is indeed a goog phone
[20:01:41] <mrvek> 180 - 200 $, shipping included. i'm not sure about customs.
[20:02:09] <Skrilax_CZ> mrvek: I'd say so too ... customs will be there ... also you have to be (or have someone able to) do the SIM card mod

[22:22:57] <nadlabak> mrvek: to verify bpsw version: make nandroid backup of bpsw in recovery and check the begining of the backup file in some editor, the version number is there
[22:24:41] <nadlabak> mrvek: but with that sbf you mention, you surely have the froyo bpsw in your phone
[22:32:42] <nadlabak> mrvek: as I mentioned, using eclair version of bpsw is causing occasional BP panic on incoming calls
[22:33:49] <nadlabak> that does not happen when you use the latest bpsw available - the froyo version
[22:35:20] <nadlabak> but a BP panic can indeed happen under other circumstances as well, even when using the froyo bpsw
[22:36:31] <nadlabak> there's a reason why Motorola put panic_daemon on our devices, so the device automatically reboots when BP panic happens
[22:40:50] <nadlabak> what changed in recent CM builds for Milestone is that user is now notified about the reason of the reboot and has the chance to postpone it if needed
[22:46:11] <nadlabak> mrvek: if you experienced it just once, you're lucky and there's no need to worry about it
[22:52:06] <nadlabak> there are too many factors at play. e.g. there seem to be some BTS that can occasionly cause BP panic on Milestone when the phone is connecting to them.
[22:55:30] <nadlabak> and I know for sure e.g. that Milestone BP is more stable when it's connected to T-mobile CZ network than when connected to Vodafone CZ network, at least in Prague
[22:58:51] -!- endstille has quit [Quit: endstille]
[23:07:54] <nadlabak> mrvek: at this point, I plan to keep my Milestone and care about it even after I receive Photon Q. I just slowed down with build releases (again), but I have some bugfixes in the works.
